Our Philosophy of Care

"Since the Genetics & IVF Institute was founded in 1984, our focus has been excellence, innovation, integrity, and caring; these are the qualities on which our reputation is and will continue to be based."

Joseph D. Schulman, M.D.,
Founder

At the Genetics & IVF Institute, we want each patient to feel like our only patient.  GIVF couples state-of-the-art scientific expertise and healthcare with personalized, sensitive treatment.

Every GIVF patient is assigned a primary physician and nurse to work with them throughout their treatment.  Our medical team not only treats patients, but provides them with information and emotional support during their treatment. GIVF’s medical and scientific experts have one goal – to help patients to build their families.

Our Standard of Care

GIVF is committed to providing each and every patient with the highest standard of healthcare combined with the best overall patient experience available anywhere.  Although since its founding GIVF has helped thousands of patients worldwide to achieve pregnancy, it is our mission to treat each patient as if they are our only patient.  This is also mirrored in our treatment of the individuals who come to us as donors or as customers of Fairfax Cryobank.

GIVF is more than just a place that provides healthcare and solutions to infertility needs. Since the beginning as the first outpatient infertility center in the United States, GIVF has been a pioneer in scientific and therapeutic innovation.  This tradition as an early adopter or innovator is deeply ingrained into the institution and is part of what differentiates GIVF from others.

It is our goal to take the total needs of the patient in mind and to always provide a recommendation as to the best course of action for them given their own individual needs. Sometimes this means providing friendly and compassionate service. Sometimes it means providing additional amenities to provide physical or emotional support through the difficult and often stressful path in dealing with infertility. Sometimes it means recommending that the patient consider alternatives to standard infertility treatment, such as donor egg, or in some cases where the individual’s needs seem best served by consideration of other alternatives beyond those which GIVF can provide. In all cases, GIVF attains the highest level of integrity and clinical and ethical standards.
