Traveling to GIVF
Information for international and out-of-town patients.
We would like your stay in the Washington, DC area to be as pleasant as possible. We will do everything we can to assist you and to minimize your time away from home. Although you will need to come to the Genetics & IVF Institute for morning monitoring and for your procedures, you should have ample free time to explore and relax. If you are a Donor Egg IVF recipient or are in a frozen embryo transfer cycle, you will generally need to be in the area for about three days; for an IVF or ICSI cycle with fresh embryo transfer you will generally need to be here for about one week. Your patient care team will determine how long you will need to be in the area based on your individual needs.
Directions and interactive maps to our main facility in Fairfax, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC, are included in this website. A listing of selected area hotels, transportation information, and places to visit also are available on this site. For your maximum convenience, we recommend that you rent an automobile during your stay.
For out of town patients, our fees do not include 3rd party services such as morning monitoring, sonograms, blood work, diagnostic testing, and surgery. See your financial counselor for more details.

Concierge Services
We understand that the prospect of traveling to the Washington, DC Metro area for healthcare services might seem a bit overwhelming. To help you feel as comfortable as possible, GIVF offers comprehensive, personalized concierge assistance to all out-of-town and international patients. Our goal is to make the logistics and details of traveling to GIVF as effortless as possible for you.
Our personal concierge services can:

• schedule and book your air travel to and from the area

• arrange ground transportation among the airport, your hotel, and GIVF

Prior to your trip, we will send you an organized packet with everything you need for your visit. This will include your itinerary, bookings, confirmation numbers, maps, directions, transportation information, and all necessary contact numbers.
Our concierge is available to you at all times via telephone, email, and fax to assist you with anything you may need prior to or during your trip. For example, if you encounter flight schedule changes, our concierge will help you identify possible alternative flights. While you will have direct access to GIVF clinical team, you can also use our concierge as a single point of contact if you have questions or concerns. Concierge will always keep your clinical team up to date with all your travel plans.
GIVF concierge services can also help personalize your visit and make it as enjoyable as possible. We have relationships with several local vendors in northern Virginia and Washington, DC, so GIVF patients can take advantage of benefits such as discounts and unique services. Just a few examples include:
• Arranging a car to pick you up at the airport and transport you to your hotel
• Obtaining pre-charged Metro farecards
• Stocking your hotel refrigerator with requested food items prior to your arrival
• Delivering fresh flowers to your lodging
• Purchasing tickets for the theatre, sporting events, concerts, etc.
• Booking reservations at restaurants of your choice
• Scheduling tours of Washington, DC
• Recommending other activities, eateries, etc. that suit your preferences.
